2000 Decennial Census Estimates

General Information

The Decennial Census occurs every 10 years, in years ending in zero, to count the population and housing units for the entire United States. Its primary purpose is to provide the population counts that determine how seats in the U.S. House of Representatives are apportioned. continue >>

  1. Population (includes tables: Age, Group, and Sex; Race Alone or in Combination; and Race Alone or in Combination and Hispanic or Latino)
  2. Employment (includes tables: Employment Status by Sex; Work Status in 1999 and Earnings in 1999 of Full-Time, and Year-Round Workers, by Sex)
  3. Housing and Household (includes tables: General Housing Characteristics; Household Population; and Household Type by Tenure)
  4. Labor Force (includes tables: Labor Force by Age and Sex)
  5. County Profiles (provides selected statistics at the county and regional levels on population trends, employment figures, educational enrollments, housing units, and travel patterns for the 12 counties in the NYMTC region)
  6. Journey To Work (provides journey to work statistics for the NYMTC region as well as the rest of the country)
